I totally love this luxe fall look!  I think this Kate Spade sweater is baggy enough that if I order up a size or two that it will look cute even though I am pregnant and then just look like an over sized boyfriend sweater for next season.  I totally adore the print and color scheme of this sweater!  I have wanted the Rage & Bone booties for years and trying to decide whether it is time to take the plunge.  I like that they have a stacked heel that will be easier to maneuver around in while pregnant.  I don’t foresee myself wearing heels very often without a stacked heel this fall and winter. I will be completing this outfit with skinny maternity jeans or maternity leggings depending on how the sweater would fall.  I decided to add simple accessories to complete the look since the sweater is the shining star of this outfit.

I have to be honest, I am struggling a bit with putting together my new pregnancy wardrobe.  My waist has always been the smallest part of my body, so this is a totally new way of dressing for me.  I want to be comfortable, but not frumpy and would like to make as many pieces that I buy transition afterward if possible.  I thought this sweater would make a good splurge item since it was so cute and also looked incredibly comfortable.  Agh, the sacrifices that we make while pregnant!

Honestly, shopping for myself hasn’t been that fun, especially the clothes shopping.  I am still adjusting to my changing body and some days it just isn’t fun.  Accessories are a pregnant woman’s best friend!  In honor of that I decided to put together a shoe & handbag wish list!

There is a little of everything there.  Some flats, loafers, booties, and cozy slippers because from what I hear those are going to be essential towards the end of my pregnancy.  I figure that they might as well look and feel spectacular, which is why  I really  want those Tory Burch slippers.  Don’t even get me started on handbags, I want each and every one of the above bags.  The Chloe cross-body is to die for though!

I am excited to finally share with all of you that my husband and I are expecting our first child, a girl, in January!  This has been the reason for the radio silence on the blog.  I wasn’t really sure when or how I wanted to share this news.

The reason for my apprehension was that this was quite a surprise for us.  Our journey to having a child goes back about 7 years.  We had waited to try and have children and then when we decided to try, it just didn’t happen for us.  We tried for about a year and decided that it just wasn’t meant to be.  I had experience as a nanny for two different families that had adopted, so we knew that we would not try any fertility drugs and instead decided that when the time was right, we would adopt since there are so many children out there that need loving homes.

Over the next years life got busy and we really liked the rhythm and freedom of our life, so we just kept moving forward.  Throughout all this time, it wasn’t like we ever stopped trying to have a child, but after many years you figure that it is just not something that can happen.  We were never devastated by it, we knew that at any time we could start the process to adopt a child.  We had decided that we were happy with the way our life was and that we would revisit the idea of adoption at a later time.

Fast forward seven years later.  Low and behold I find myself pregnant!  We did nothing different and have no idea how all of this sudden this was able to happen.  It produced the most intense joy and fear that I have ever experienced in my life.  On one hand I wanted to jump for joy that I was getting an experience that I never thought I would have and on the other had I was terrified that it was all really just some cruel joke and that something was bound to go wrong.

I would say I lived in fear most of the first 16 weeks of the pregnancy.  I just felt like it couldn’t be real and that I was going to wake up one day and she would be gone.  I know this isn’t the most rational way to look at things, but after seven years of it not happening it was hard to get out of my own head at times.

I am happy to say that last week we had the 20 week ultrasound and that she looked perfect!  She is of normal size and all of her little organs are growing just as they should be.  The relief that I felt at that point, I cannot even put into words.  I also felt that it was at a point where I felt comfortable sharing it with all of you.

I am sorry for the lengthy post today, but after the hiatus I felt that I owed everyone an explanation of what had been going on.  So, here is to moving forward, being positive, and a new adventure!  Thank you so much for reading!

Sorry, for the lack of posts lately.  Over the last month and a half my life had been a whirlwind.  It has brought me moments of extreme joy and equal parts sadness.  I have never been one to dive into my feelings on my blog, so I found myself at a loss as to what to even write and share.  I quite frankly, just didn’t know where to start.  It made me think that maybe I want to take this blog in a more personal direction and have a fresh start.  I will never be a complete open book and there will always be areas that I will need to keep private, but I realized that maybe I wanted to share more than who makes the dress or necklace that I am wearing.

I ask that you be patient with me as I make this transition because I am not really sure what direction that I want to go in.  Over the last month and half I have learned that I can’t sit here and wait for all the perfect answers, I just have to start and see where is leads me.  Most of my posts have only pertained to the items that I am wearing.  While I will still do the same outfit posts, I think that the actual writing of content will be more about where I am in my life or what my triumphs or struggles may be at that time.  If there is anything that any of you may be interested in knowing, comment or shoot me an email and let me know.

In the idea of more disclosure, during the photo shoot for the about pictures my husband looked at me smiled and said “baby, I don’t know what I love more, you or the car”!  My husband loves that car and was so excited that I was finally going to use it in a post.  As soon as he had gotten it last fall, he kept asking me if I was going to use it in a blog post.  He bought the car towards the end of fall though Diflucan, so we ran out of time before the weather turned  bad.  As soon as we finally got some nice weather around here we took the photos.

Over this next week I have some more fun things to share with all of you and am looking forward to this fresh start and new path that the blog is taking me down.  Thank all of you for reading and for your patience!

I am totally loving this Jane necklace and blouse!!  I love that the floral necklace and laser cut out on the tunic mimic each other just perfectly.  While this actual blouse is sold out, they do have another laser cut tunic that I am going to snag up in ivory and pink.  I love the pleats sticking out from underneath the cut outs.  I also love the long length and all the color options.   I am relatively new to Jane, but I love to check it out daily to see what fun stuff has been added.  It is a wonderful site to check out for really fun items and equally wonderful price points.
