This past Thursday, my husband and I attended the launch party for the Saks Fifth Avenue Men’s Store. After being located across the street for the last 15 years, the Men’s Store now occupies the 6th and 7th floors of the flagship store at 700 N. Michigan Avenue.
The presentation started as soon as you entered the main store doors with models flanking each side in spring/summer clothes. Once you were upstairs, it was a fabulous event that included a woman hand rolling cigars, a band on one floor, a DJ on the other, and an artist working on pieces of art on-site. While this was all wonderfully impressive, it pales in comparison to the actual beauty of the new men’s floors. From the wide-plank herringbone wood floors, to the stunning light fixtures, and all of stunning display cases in between, it all just seems like artwork.
Upon entering Saks Fifth Avenue you can take an express elevator directly to the two men’s floors. The 6th floor includes brands such as Ermenegildo Zegna, Salvatore Ferragomo and Brunello Cucinelli, in addition to the new Made-to-Measure suiting area. On the same floor you will also find a men’s shoe department that rivals some women’s shoe departments. If you are ever in need of a suiting consultant or specialist at this store, I highly recommend asking for Patrick Forburger. He has an excellent eye and is wonderful to work with. He also has a killer shoe collection himself (as females I think we can all agree this is something that deserves and warrants a special mention!).
On the 7th floor you will find the more contemporary men’s brands and a large selection of designer denim lines. Also located on this floor is the restaurant and bar, named Sophie’s at Saks Fifth Avenue which has stunning views of Michigan Avenue.
